Thank goodness for breast pumps!

This week I’m going away for work for a couple of days and will therefore be away from my two babies overnight… Arhhhhhh!

Mila is used to it by now and no longer relies on me for her nourishment like Levi however I’m not sure how mummy is going to go being away from her four-and-a-half month old baby.

I’m nursing Levi and his only food source at the moment so it’ll add a little more pressure for my darling husband during the night time feeds especially. You see, when Levi wakes, he wants his milk yesterday and fortunately thus far I’ve been there to accommodate. Steve is going to have to sprint very fast to warm up the breast milk that I have stock piled for months for such circumstances. Thank goodness for the breast pump!

I can leave home knowing that between my husband and our nanny Mollie, our two precious ones are in the best hands possible. It’s an emotional thing for me since it’s the first time away for so long since I had Levi.

I’ve been traveling for work a lot already and have only been on day trips (long ones at that). Once I get through this one, I know the rest will be easier… especially on mummy! Hey, I might just get a chance to read a magazine or book!

Have a happy week.

Be well.

Happy birthday Mila

I'd like to wish my angel Mila, a very happy second birthday. It seems hard to believe that she is two already… so soon!

We had a small celebration this afternoon with some friends however, the big bash will be next weekend when her aunt arrives from Sydney (yeah sis). We are all so excited that Lidia is coming for a visit and then we’ll have an apartment full of people to entertain.

Levi is eight weeks old so there’s exactly 22 months between our babies. They look alike and Levi looks like Mila when she was the same age (with a few minor differences).

So far so good on the work front… juggling home and career. We have a part-time nanny that helps my husband and I out when we are both working (no family around to pitch in). Steve is an amazing father and completely capable of taking great care of our little angels. It’s one of the main reasons that I can go off to work and not have a worry in my mind.

Finally… Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate the religious occasion. We are planning on visiting Mila's best friend's place and having an easter egg hunt for the girls. The weather is supposed to be divine so we and all New Yorkers will certainly be making the most of it. Bring on the sunshine!

Have a wonderful week.

Be well.

It's back to work

So it’s back to work for me as a new mother of two little ones. I had my first casting when Levi was two weeks old and although I’m limiting myself to the kind of work I do and where it is, I’m looking forward to returning to my profession.

I’ve had a few months off and feel revived and ready to launch back into a solid year of work! Sometimes, it’s good to be able to separate yourself from your career to gain a new and healthy perspective and to be grateful for what you do and have… even a well-deserved holiday will do nicely.

So this coming week I travel to my shoots with nursing pump in hand. I have become a pro at that… nursing and working. Fortunately for me, my clients respect what I must do as a nursing mother in order to work with me. How times have changed for the working mother of a newborn babe! Yeah!

That’s what’s happening in my world… what is it that’s happening in yours this week? Have a good one... whatever it is!

Be well.

Leaving my angel behind

I just returned from Germany where I was working this last week. I had a wonderful time and even managed to see a first cousin and her family, that live some 60kms away from where I was shooting. I love it when that happens!

It was very hard leaving my 17month old daughter behind this time, especially since she had developed a cold the day before I left. When our angels aren't well, all they want are their mammas and I was heading overseas for work. Not easy emotionally however, a necessary and common part of our lives.

My greatest comfort was having my husband and mum look after her during my absence. Daily phone calls and emails kept me abreast of my daughter's state and fortunately, the cold was over with in a matter of days and by the time I returned home my smiling, happy and divine child was back to her usual self. What a massive relief!

Now we are joined at the hip again and I'm the flavour of the week.

Have a great week.

Be well.

No rest for the wicked

Here I am at home in New York. The weather is fabulous and summer is here! My Sara dresses for spring/summer are already getting a work out on the streets of this great city. I am stylin' it!

Within 24 hours of returning home, I was back on another plane heading to the west coast of the States for work. No rest for the wicked as they say. Since then, my feet haven't touched the ground (yet again)... my US clients must have missed me so it's work, work, work! I am thrilled!

My trip to Australia seems like a blur now although I'm still getting over the insane traffic of Sydney. Unbelievable! The government hasn't planned or anticipated an increase in the city's population it seems! The M5 for example has TWO lanes!!! Why didn't they plan for four? What a waste of time for the commuters and a test of ones patience.

Some days, I was in the car for almost five hours traveling to and from the shoot. Not something I have to put up with in New York thank goodness. Something needs to be done about the traffic and congestion on the roads of this world... does anyone have an answer or a solution?

Have a great week.

Be well.
